Military Besiege Bobi Wine, Besigye’s Homes Ahead Of Presidential Inauguration

Several army and police personnel have Monday morning surrounded and sealed off National Unity Platform (NUP) principal Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s home in Magere, Wakiso District, just a day to president-elect Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s inaugural ceremony, slated for May 12th, 2021, at Kololo Independence Grounds.

According to our Moles in Magere, the military and police presence  started  taking effect at Bobi Wine’s residence as early as 4:00AM and by 7:00AM the entire place had been cordoned off, with no one being allowed to enter or leave.

However, it is not yet clear why the military sealed off Bobi Wine’s residence since the police and Joint Task Security Forces have not yet issued an official statement about the siege.

But the development has since been confirmed by Bobi Wine, who wrote on social media indicating that his home is surrounded by the military.

“Our comrades were meant to appear for their bail hearing today at the General Court Martial. All of a sudden, they called off the court. Meanwhile, my home is surrounded by the police and military! Soldiers are back to the streets. This is how the d****tor plans to swear himself in!”

Our efforts to contact police spokesperson Fred Enanga for a comment about this abrupt deployment were how futile because he hadn’t answered our endless phones by press time.

It should however be noted that this is the second time the police and military are sealing off Bobi Wine’s home.

The same scenario occurred shortly after the January 14th presidential elections when the military besieged the outgoing Kyadondo East legislator’s home for several weeks, until the High Court ordered them to vacate the premises in early February on grounds  that Bobi Wine’s home is not a gazette detention centre.

The High Court then advised the  police and   military to detain Bobi Wine at a gazetted detention centre like a police station or prison in case he had any cases to answer.

It is thus not clear under what grounds the same security  personnel have since decided to besiege Bobi Wine’s home again; but watch this space for details as news events unfold.

In the same vein, we have also learnt that Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) former presidential contender Rtd. Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye’s home has since been surrounded by the military too.

The development was confirmed by the FDC party which posted on social media about the same.

“We have been informed that military forces have surrounded Rt. Col. Dr. @kizzabesigye1’s home this afternoon,” the FDC tweeted on their official twitter handle.

But just like in the case of Bobi Wine, the military and police are yet to come out and reveal why they took the decision to surround Besigye’s home.
