President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has Wednesday held a private meeting with his Mozambican counterpart Filipe Jacinto Nyusi at State House, Entebbe .
President Nyosi arrived in Uganda with his beloved wife Isaura Nyusi for a three-day state visit, during which he is set to discuss matters of national importance with Museveni, among them strengthening the relations between Uganda and Mozambique.

“I received H.E Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, the President of the Republic of Mozambique and The First Lady, H.E Isaura Nyusi at State House Entebbe. We held bilateral talks on areas of trade, tourism, and agriculture among other areas of mutual interest,” Museveni tweeted shortly after their meeting.
Museveni hosted H.E Nyusi and his Isaura at State House together with the First Lady H.E Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni, who is also the Minister of Education and Sports.

Nyusi, born 9 February 1959, is a Mozambiqan politician serving as the fourth President of Mozambique since 2015.
He is the current leader of FRELIMO, the party that has governed Mozambique since its independence from Portugal in 1975.

Additionally, he has served as the Chairman of the Southern African Development Community since August 2020.
During his time in office, President Nyusi has promoted peace and security, and signed multiple agreements with the main opposition parties, RENAMO, to bring a definitive and lasting peace to Mozambique.
He has also received international praise for Mozambique’s model of combating terrorism in Cabo Delgado.
Nyusi served as the Minister of Defence from 2008 to 2014 under Armando Guebuza.
He won the 2014 and 2019 Mozambican presidential elections as the candidate of FRELIMO.
