Members of the National Unity Platform(NUP) are mourning the untimely demise of their member Ritah Kansiime, who died on Friday night, although the circumstances surrounding her death are subject to question.
Kansiime was the Councillor-elect for Bukasa Parish in Makindye East Constituency and her death was first announced by the NUP Secretary General (SG) David Lewis Rubongoya, who wrote on Twitter thus;
“With great sorrow, we regret to announce the death of comrade Kansiime Ritah, an elected @NUP_UG Councillor for Bukasa Parish in Makindye East Constituency.Sending our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased. May the Almighty God comfort them through these times.”
Rubongoya however did not go into details about the exact cause of Kansiime’s death or whether the police had availed them with a report about the same.
But family sources reveal that she had no known illness and had not reported feeling unwell this week until she suddenly developed health complications that led to her death.
One of them, Shaban Rashid asked that; “Has she died of natural causes or still the regime has killed her? Omanyi you NUP you dont believe in natural death. Rip kansime”
A statement from NUP indicates that a Special Council will be held at Makindye Division after which a requiem service will be held at St. Mark’s Church Bukasa in memory of her.
Thereafter the body will be transported to her home in Bukasa and later to her parents’ home in Matugga, where vigil with be held.
Kansiime’s will then on Sunday laid to rest at her parents’ ancestral home in Kamads village, Ssemuto.
