On Friday morning, National Resistance Movement – NRM candidate Andrew Muwonge was declared the winner for Kayunga LC 5 seat by-election by Electoral Commission- EC returning officer, Ms Jennifer Kyobutungi after garnering 31,830 votes against National Unity Platform- NUP’s Harrier Nakawede who got only 31,380 votes.
NUP party president Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu aka Bobi Wine has commented on the results saying that Museveni has robbed them of their victory.
“In broad daylight, Museveni robs the victory of the people, and declares his candidate in Kayunga! Despite the stuffing and all manner of rigging, the signed DR forms give us a 15,000 votes lead. Ugandans will have to decide the next course of action,” Bobi Wine posted on his social media pages.
NUP party spokesperson, Joel Ssenyonyi has also posted on his Facebook and said that. “This country!!!”
It should be recalled that NUP reported that there was vote rigging yesterday by NRM.
