Fallen Speaker Jacob Lokori Oulanyah’s former wife Lady Winnie Amoo Okot, who is based in America, has snubbed his burial.
Okot was expected to fly into the country this week with Oulanyah’s two daughters ahead of the burial, which is underway today at Oualanyah’s ancestral home in Ajuri village, Lalogi Sub-county, Omoro District.
However, on Friday the burial ceremony kicked off without either Okot or Oulanyah’s two daughters that she produced with him.
The only orphans who were at the funeral, four in all, are the children Oulanyah begot from his departed wife and a Side-dish, who is the mother of his youngest son.
So in total Oulanyah left behind six orphans but only four of them were able to attend his burial, since the other two didn’t travel with their mother from America to Uganda.
It should be noted that although Okot produced only daughters with Oulanyah, she has since produced a son for her American hubby identified as Derek Allison , who she hooked up with a few years after she divorced Oulanyah.
By press time, Okot, who divorced Oulanyah in 2016 and court granted her custody rights for their children, had not shown cause why she had decided to skip the burial.
Meanwhile, thousands of people who included the Prime Minister of Uganda Hon. Robbinah Nabbanja, Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Among, deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa, Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, ministers, Members of Parliament, politicians from various political parties and members of the general public.
The funeral service ahead of Oulanyah’s send off was conducted by the Archbishop of Uganda Steven Kazimba Mugalu, together with the former Archbishop, Henry Luke Orombi.
