Pastor Mondo Flees To S. Africa  To Escape Shs5Bn Fraud Case In Which He’s Pinned With Kusasira

Flashy city pastor Mondo Mugisha, who is widely known for his boisterous demeanour, is currently said to be hiding in South Africa, where he fled in a bid to escape from charges of defrauding over Shs5Bn from hundreds of Ugandans.

Mondo is charged together with singer cum presidential adviser on artistes affairs Catherine Kusasira, pastor Siraje Ssemanda, Maggie Kayima and others still at large.

Trouble for Mondo and his partners in crime started last year, when they were arrested and paraded before the State House Ant-corruption Unit (SHACU) headed by Lt. Col. Edith Nakalema, to record statements over allegations that they had connived with pastor Siraje and others to con billions of shillings from Ugandans.

According to sources privy to the matter,  the suspects committed the said crimes between 2018 and 2020, whereby they went to different churches collecting money from pastors and unsuspecting believers, promising to arrange meetings between them and President Yoweri Museveni.

They also lied to their victims that they would secure them jobs abroad and  scholarships to study at prestigious educational institutions in Europe, America and South Africa, which they never did.

After the police receiving  several complaints about pastor Siraje they arrested him last year as he tried to flee the country via Tanzania.

He was arrested together with singer Maggie Kayima aka Nabbi Omukazi and together they have since been jailed as investigations into their cases of obtaining money by false pretense continue.

However, after intense interrogation, Pastor Siraje told the police that some of the people he had been working with include pastor Mondo and Kusasira.

They were promptly summoned by Lt. Col. Nakalema to appear before the SHACU where they both recorded statements, denied  the allegations and were released on police bond.

They were released so that detectives would continue with the investigations but cautioned to appear before the SHCU or the Anti-Corruption court the next time they are summoned.

But like they say that the guilty run before they are chased, it seems Mondo will not be around the next time he is summoned by Lt. Col. Nakalema or court, because sources reveal that he has since gone into hibernation in South Africa, where he hopes to hide from the long arm of the law.

We have however also learnt that Mondo fled the country after learning that he was meant to be arrested today (January 28th) when their case comes up for hearing at the Anti-Corruption Court in Kololo.
