The Uganda Police and army have Tuesday morning deployed heavily in Nakawa Division and along Jinja Road in preparation for Kyadondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s presidential nominations scheduled for 10:00Am at Kyambogo University Sports Grounds.
According to a traffic program issued by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Martins Okoth Ochola, Bobi Wine is to be driven from his home in Magere and his convoy will be led by police lead car/motorcycle, which will guide his traffic until Kyambogo University, where Electoral Commission officials are waiting to nominate him and others.
Before setting off from his home, Bobi Wine first held a prayer at his home with his family members which was led by Pastor Muto and after the prayer he told the gathering that; “Today is the first step to the freedom of our country and we hope to achieve it in the name of the Almighty God.”
Besides Bobi Wine, other presidential candidates that are to be nominated today include Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) President Patrick Amuriat Oboi, Joseph Kabuleta and others who were not nominated on Monday, after the incumbent President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was nominated on Monday November 01st, 2020.
All the candidates are vying for the 2021 Presidential Election which will be held in January, in which the main contenders for the presidency are President Museveni and Bobi Wine.
Bobi Wine is contesting on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket while President Museveni, who launched his manifesto yesterday, is contesting on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket.
