The Ugandan police have failed to arrest the person or people that killed musician Emmanuel Mayanja, who was popularly known as AK-47.
Today marks exactly seven years since AK-47 was murdered at a bar in Kansanga that he used to co-own with Team No Sleep (TNS) boss Jeff Kiwanuka.
However, shortly after his murder, the police arrested a few people among them Jeff and others who were interrogated about what caused AK-47’s death but that was it.

The investigations have since then hit a dead end and the case file gone cold, simply because the main suspect, who was only identified as Mumbere is missing to date.
It is alleged that Mumbere attacked AK-47 in the bathroom of Jeff’s now defunct De Javu bar, where he hit him severely on the head and fled thereafter, leaving him on the floor bleeding.

By the time his friends reached the scene and quickly rushed him to hospital he had already lost a lot of blood and he breathed his last shortly after being admitted.
Although Jeff said AK-47 had slipped and fallen in the washroom, detectives at Kabalagala police who handled the matter then revealed that they suspected AK-47 had been intentionally murdered after the postmortem report revealed that he had deep bruises on his head.
Following the brutal murder, the police closed down Jeff’s De Javu bar in a bid to cordon off the scene so as not to jeopardise investigations but then the investigators have never released a report about their findings.

Today, his family members led by Joseph Mayanja and Douglas Mayanja aka Weasel held a memorial service for AK-47 in Kalangalo, Mityana, which was attended by many of his fans, friends and fellow musicians.
Jose Chameleone wrote thus on social media shortly before heading to Mityana for the memorial service;
“Celebrating you life my brother,
Wounds will never heal – We miss you but so is the way for all of us inevitably.
Got so many memories but that’s all that is left.
Am coming to join in prayer for you. May the angels continue to wrap you and Gods mercy be upon you forever Emmanuel Mayanja. Continue to Rest In Peace Kagawandagaza!!”
it should be noted that AK-47 is survived by a set of twins and a widow identified as Nalongo Maggie Kiwesi, although his baby mama has since been married off by Ugandan rapper Failsa Sseguya aka Rabadaba, whom she relocated with to the UK.
