Police Finally Arrest Chameleone’s Former Promoter Sipapa Over Robbery

The police in Kampala have revealed that self-proclaimed music promoter Charlies Olim aka Sipapa is finally in custody and awaiting to be arraigned in court.

Sipapa, who was time back singer Jose Chameleone’s promoter, is alleged to have robbed a South Sudanese businessman identified as Jacob Arok of USD429,000 (about Shs1.6Bn), gold jewelry, smart phones, two cars and other valuables from  Arok’s residence in Bunga, Kawuku.

However, according to a statement from police spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga, Sipapa, who  has been hiding after the police arrested his wife Shamirah Nakiyimba and three other suspects, was arrested on Tuesday evening.

“We wish to inform the public that the Directorate of Crime Intelligence has arrested, a one Olimu Charles Sipapa, who was on the Police wanted list, for an alleged Aggravated Robbery, which occurred at the home of Jacob Arok, in Kawuku-Bunga, on the night of 28.08.2022,” Enanga said in the statement.

Sipapa’s wife Shamira Nakiyimba was also arrested over the same robbery

He added that; “Arrangements are in place to hand him over to the CID task team at Kampala Metropolitan Police, for further interview and court action.”

He also noted that the police leadership commends the tireless efforts of the CID and CI task teams in arresting and helping to bring the suspect to justice.

Enanga noted that this now brings the number of suspects arrested to five and that any new developments in the matter shall be communicated accordingly.
