The Police in Kampala are investigating the death of renowned city pastor Hendel Leslie, of Abundant Life Faith Ministries on Seguku hill, off Entebbe Road, who was found dead in his house on Friday night.
Hendel is said to have left work the previous day and headed straight to his home in Lubowa but didn’t wake up from sleep.
Born in 1959 in Jamaica and raised Canada, the towering light-skinned, well-travelled preacher has been living in Uganda for the last 25 years.
Friends and followers who have known him a for long time described the motivational speaker as a well-spoken and articulate man whose sermons and writings inspired thousands of believers.
However, others might remember him as one of Kampala’s based pastors who on several occasions have been accused of engaging in gay activities.
By press time Hendel’s body had been taken to Mulago Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem as police investigate what could have caused his death.
To many of his followers, Ps. Dr. Hendel was a transformational leader, motivational speaker, educator, inspirational writer and senior Pastor of Abundant Life Faith Center.
His life depicted one of vision, purpose and well-defined focus. Born the 15th February 1959, on the Island of Jamaica, at age 14, he migrated to Canada where he completed his high school education.
He grew up with an insatiable quest for knowledge; that quest is that which propelled him to move on the path of the acquisition of greater knowledge so as to become an inspiration to his generation. He held a Masters degree in counselling and a doctorate in philosophy. Many of his followers have since poured out their condolence messages on social media.
May his Spirit rest with his Lord.
