Police Probe Nakawa Train Accident That Left Young Couple Dead On Eid

The police in Metropolitan Kampala are investigating a fatal accident that occurred in Kinawataka, Nakawa Division on Saturday, which was Eid Aduha, when a train rammed into a passenger car, leaving two people dead.

Preliminary information gathered by police detectives so far indicates that the incident occurred as the couple, who were driving in a Mercedes Benz  registration number UBJ 053N, tried to cross over the railway in Kinawataka  township without either knowing that the train was coming or hearing its whistle.

The couple has since been identified as Ann Kabaaya and her boyfriend, a one Teezy,  who was driving the car.

Eyewitnesses who reached the scene first reveal that the accident occurred at around 3:300Am and whereas Kabaaya died on spot, Teezy was rushed to hospital but died shortly after admission.

However, the train didn’t stop following the accident, although the operators noted their bosses at the Uganda Railways Corporation head office in Kampala.

Although they are yet to issue an official statement about the matter, the  Uganda Railways Corporation says the Police are investigating the matter to get to its root cause and establish what exactly caused the fatal incident.
