The police have trashed allegations that have been going around to the effect that a National Unity Platform (NUP) supporter identified as Deus Tumuhimbise disappeared and has been missing for days now.
The allegations were trashed as fake news in a statement issued by the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigire, who revealed that reports circulating on social media about the whereabouts of Tumuhimbise Deus aka Deus_firebase are false because is in police custody.
According to Owoyesigire, Tumuhimbise was arrested on January 7th, 2021 on allegation of issuing counterfeit dollar notes totalling to 5100, to East African Plastic Products Company Ltd, located in Mbalala Industrial Area, by detectives from Mbalala Police Station.
He noted that the matter was investigated and forwarded to prosecution for sanctioning, after which the suspect was arraigned in Mukono Magistrates court, convicted and sentenced to six months on two accounts of being possession of paper or implement for forgery and uttering counterfeit currency.
Owoyesigire thus insisted that all news that has been circulating to the effect that Tumuhimbise was abducted or went missing is fake and should be treated with the contempt it deserves.
