His excellency President Yoweri Kaguta is set to officiate at this year’s Janzi awards that will be held on December 11th, 2021, at the Kololo Independence Grounds.
The awards ceremony, which is being organised by Uganda’s top artistes led by David Kazibwe aka Ragga Dee, is aimed at celebrating musicians, comedians, actors, actresses and other talented Ugandans who have persevered through the COVID-19 pandemic.
The awards are also aimed at promoting Uganda’s cultural, creative, and performing arts to which 80 categories of different winners will be awarded.
During the launch of awards on Thursday, the Uganda National Cultural Center (UNCC) chairperson Sam Okello said; “The awards shall honour artistes, musicians, producers, writers, dancers, companies, and innovators, among others who have made substantial contributions to the culture, creative, and performing arts industry of Uganda.”
He noted that the awards will be organized under the theme “Uganda for Us. Us four Uganda.”
He added that; “Through the awards, all the stakeholders in the industry will recognize and celebrate creativity, excellence, innovation, ingenuity, and originality to uplift the standards of the industry.
We have since established that organising the awards ceremony is being spearheaded by the Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) which is led by Gen. Salim Saleh and that President Museveni will address the participants via zoom.
The awards will be hosted by the National Cultural Forum (NCF), Uganda Performing Rights Society, Uganda Musicians Association (UMA), Uganda Communication Commission (UCC), Uganda Registration Service Bureau (URSB), and the Ministry of the Gender Labour and Social Development.
