It was a somber mood on Tuesday afternoon as thousands of mourners gathered for the burial of Prince Dickson Wasajja, who was a UK-based Ugandan rights activist.
Wasajja, 45, was laid to rest by his family, relatives and friends, among the FDC stalwarts led by Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye, at his ancestral home in Kiwaguzi, Kyankwanzi District.
Wasajja, who was a doctor and rights activist attached the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and the National Unity Platform, died last Wednesday, shortly after returning to Uganda.
However, his death has since left several unanswered questions, since he had not complained of any illness prior to traveling to Uganda, only for him to collapse shortly after touching down at Entebbe International Airport.
Although the exact cause of Wasajja’s death is yet to be established, murmurs of poisoning were heard from many of the mourners that attended his burial.
Shortly after sending him off, FDC stalwart and former presidential contender Dr. Besigye said thus on social media;
“Fare thee well & rest in peace.
Thousands of mourners assembled today (Tuesday) to thank God for the gift of a great man, Prince Dickson Wasajja (45). We laid him to rest at his ancestral home in Kiwaguzi, Kyankwanzi District.
We remain with many unanswered questions!”
It was however revealed by the FDC that Wasajja had political ambitions ahead of the 2026 elections, although he unfortunately didn’t live long enough to see them fulfilled.
