Prof. Jude Lubega Eats Big In Nkumba Varsity Promotions

Prof. Jude Lubega must be jubilation after he was confirmed as the Nkumba University Vice Chancellor, following a period of two years serving in Acting capacity.

He now becomes the 5th Vice Chancellor of Nkumba University after replacing Prof. Wilson Mande Muyinda.

While receiving instruments of power and office keys, Prof. Jude Lubega pledged to ensure that he grows the students’ population which is currently low.

In his acceptance speech, Prof. Lubega pledged to steer the University to greater levels in addition to working together with all the stakeholders to ensure the University achieves its mission.

He further pledged to uphold and not reveal University matters anyhow, but rather concentrate on things which spur development at the institution.

We congratulate Prof. Jude Lubega and wish hime a good tenure in office.

Prof. Lebega Profile

Lubega is a Professor of Information Technology who has vast experience in ICT4D.

He previously served in Makerere University from 2007 to 2012 as the Deputy Dean and the Head of the Information Technology Department in the College of Computing and Information Sciences.

He also served as the deputy Vice chancellor for Uganda Technology and Management University – UTAMU from 2013 to 2019.

He has been the Chief Executive Officer for 8Tech Consults one of the leading ICT consulting companies in Uganda.

He was listed among the 100 Movers and Shakers in Corporate Online Learning for 2018 in Africa. He also served as the Rotary Club of Namasuba President 2019 – 2020.

He is an experienced ICT4D consultant and has undertaken numerous researches and projects both nationally and internationally.

Lubega is a member of several boards and has won several research funding to undertake ICT4D projects.

 He is formerly a researcher and Lecturer in the School of Systems Engineering at the University of Reading, UK.

He has been involved in developing several information systems including election monitoring using mobile devices.

His research interests include Tracking and Assessment in e-learning, Content Authoring, Multimedia, Multi-Agent Systems, Data Science, Knowledge Representation, ICT for Development (E-Governance, E-Health, E-Agriculture), Mobile Computing, ICT Strategic Planning and Management, Web-based Systems and Mobile Learning.

He has published widely in journals, books and conference proceedings.
