Property Worth Millions Destroyed After Fire Guts Mbarara S.S

The management of Mbarara Secondary School and students  are counting losses after property worth millions of shillings was destroyed by fire that gutted the school on Friday morning.

According to eyewitnesses at the scene, the fire which gutted the boys’ S.1 and S.2 dormitories, broke out when students were class attending their morning lessons.

The police fire brigade was  quickly alerted by the school administrators about the fire outbreak but by the time they reached lots of property had been burnt to ashes.

They however managed to put out the inferno to prevent it from spreading to other buildings and fortunately, no fatalities have been reported.

We have established that following the incident, day scholar students have been sent back home as administrators grapple with returning the situation to normal.

Although it is not yet clear what caused the fire, the police have since kicked off investigations into the matter to get to its root cause and establish the extent of damage to property.

Sources at the school however reveal that there is a group of students that were suspended a few days ago over cases of indiscipline and it is these that are suspected to have set the school buildings ablaze, although they still waiting for the final report from the police investigations before they can jump to any conclusions.
