Former Makerere University Research Fellow, Dr. Stella Nyanzi, who exiled herself in neighbouring Kenya over supposed political persecution, has for several days been attacking National Unity Platform (NUP) principal Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.
Although she was some time back a Bobi Wine sympathiser, Nyanzi has since turned against Uganda’s leading opposition figure, whom she is continuously attacking through her satirical poems on Facebook.
The situation has reached the extent of Facebook threatening block her account if she doesn’t stop violating their terms and conditions, especially after she came out Sunday and posted a statement in which she revealed that Bobi Wine’s NUP is full of homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals and transgenders who she was working with.
She even fell out with her boyfriend David Musiri, whom she ridiculed in one of her poems because of his unwavering loyalty for Bobi Wine.
However, sources close to Nyanzi reveal that she fell out with Bobi Wine badly because he refused to back her bid for the Kampala Woman Member of Parliament seat in the recently concluded general election.
It should be noted that Nyanzi contested in the heated up race on the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) ticket but miserably lost to NUP candidate Shamim Malende, a city lawyer.
Sources reveal that Nyanzi has never forgiven Bobi Wine, whom she accuses of having spurred her loss in the MP race by garnering support for Malende, a less known figure compared to her, who ended up winning the race.
Nyanzi left the political arena with permanent wounds and bruises on her ego after being beaten by a young girl like Malende but she heaps all the blame for her loss on Bobi Wine, whom she has since fallen out with bitterly.
It should be recalled that Bobi Wine and Nyanzi were some time back in each other’s good books whereby during the time when she was in jail, he was among the few people who always advocated for her innocence and lambasted the government unfairly incarcerating her.
But all that has since changed and whereas Bobi Wine has restrained himself from replying to her endless attacks, Nyanzi seems hell-bent on using social media and all other avenues within her means to continue attacking the NUP principal.
