One of Rwandan President Paul Kagame’s top critics, Seif Bamporiki, was Saturday evening shot dead by unknown gunmen South Africa.
Bamporiki, who was the coordinator of Rwandan National Congress (RNC), was killed by unknown gunman in Cape Town, South Africa.
He was an active and committed member of Rwandan top opposition party RNC and one of the most wanted Rwandan dissidents.
According to sources close to Rwandan opposition forces, on Saturday Bamporoki participated in a remembrance ceremony where Rwandan National Congress members and well-wishers remembered Rwandans who have died under unclear circumstances.
Dr Etienne Mutabazi the party spokesman, confirmed the Bamporiki’s murder.
His counterpart Kayumba Nyamwasa, the head of RNC has survived several attempts on his life.
Last year, Kampala lawyer Edgar Tabaro Muvunyi told friends that so far there have been three attempts on his life by elements close to the Rwandan government.
Tabaro, a well-respected Ugandan, lawyer has in the past offered legal consultation services to activists opposed to the regime in Rwanda.
