At least two people are said to have died after a passenger train rammed into a truck belonging to the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF), which was crossing the railway at Kireka township, on Thursday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, the engine knocked the truck after the driver had insisted on crossing the railway even after hearing the warning whistle.

By the time of filing this article neither the Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) nor the Uganda Police and UPDF had issued a statement about this tragedy.
It should however be noted that the incident comes at a time when the URC has isnce issued an eviction order directing people who had built near the railway to vacate the land or risk losing their property.
