The police in northern Uganda have arrested two medics over allegations of stealing government drugs worth millions of shillings.
According to ASP David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa Region police public relations officer, the suspects are currently in custody at the Territorial Police at Amuru Central Police Station for allegedly stealing government drugs.
“The arrested are the in-charge of Omer health center II, a one Ayella Martin and his accomplice Mr. Okot Benard,” ASP Ongom said.

He added that; “They were arrested by police after a tip off on the 16th/6/2021. They were found in possession of Malaria RDT testing kits, Contraceptives and face masks.”
He noted however that investigations into the matter are ongoing after which the suspects will be arraigned I court to face the charges.
However, the suspects denied the allegations, maintaining that they are unfounded and aimed at tarnishing their reputation.
