Shock As KCCA Doctor Collapses, Dies While Driving

A veterinary doctor working with the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) identified as Dr. Kamugisha Godfrey Mwesigwa  collapsed and died on Sunday morning as he drove his car, a Mercedes Benz registration number UBJ 241Y, in Kyebando, a city suburb.

According to eyewitnesses who called police to the scene, Mwesigwa was driving then all of a sudden stopped in the middle of the road.

After several minutes without driving away, people in the area got concerned and moved closer to see what had happened to the car and its driver only to find him dead, with his spectacles hanging loose on his face.

According to the police, Mwesigwa was a veterinary doctor attached to the Kyanja KCCA farm.

The police revealed that his death occurred at around 14:30PM , opposite Akamwesi Shopping Mall gate.

“When our team responded, the deceased was found seated in his vehicle and his head rested on the steering wheel unresponsive. He was rushed to Mulago hospital, where a doctor confirmed his death and the body was conveyed to city mortuary Mulago by the police team,” a statement from the police revealed in  part.

The police however noted that the cause of death is currently unknown, although they  are waiting for a postmortem report from pathologists at Mulago Referral Hospital to establish what could have caused his sudden death.

Meanwhile, we have  established that the police are  investigating Mwesigwa’s strange death   to establish whether or not there was foul play involved.

The management of KCCA had not yet issued an official statement about Mwesigwa’s death by the time of filing  this article, although we shall bring you details as and when they issue one.

Mwesigwa, who hails from  Bulisa District,  studied at  Makerere University, then later joined Anand Agricultural University after which he enrolled at Uganda Management Institute. He is also an alumnus of  The Hebrew University of Jerusalem

He went to St. Edwards Bukuumi, for his O-Level and St. Peter’s College, Tororo,  for his A-Level.
