The health situation in Mubende District is not about to change for the better ever since the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) broke out a few weeks ago.
Sad news coming in indicates that another medic who was attending to patients at Mubende District Regional Referral Hospital has since succumbed to Ebola.
Mubende Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Rosemary Byabashaija confirmed the medic’s death, identifying the deceased as Dr John Grace Walugembe, whom she said succumbed to the disease late Sunday.
This is the third medic to die of Ebola following the death of two others who died early this month,, among them Margaret Nabisubi an anesthetic officer who contracted Ebola in Mubende died from Fort Portal Hospital.
Nabisubi died a week after another medic, Dr. Muhamad Ali, a nursing officer and nurse, had also died of Ebola.
This however comes at a time when president Yoweri Museveni announced 21-day lockdown in Mubende and Kassanda Districts as one of the government measures to curb Ebola from spreading to other parts of the country.
It should be noted that the Ebola Virus Disease has continued to claim the lives of Ugandans, with the cumulative death toll at 23 people and 23 recoveries so far.
