Soroti By-election Race Gets Hotter As Opposition Politician Attan Gets Poisoned

One of the candidates contesting in the by-election for Soroti  East Member of Parliament   identified as Moses Attan Okia, who is a Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) member, claims to have been poisoned.

Attan, who is currently bedridden, was rushed to hospital yesterday in dire health condition after he developed severe diarrhea and vomiting.

On Wednesday, he took to social media and confessed to have been poisoned, although he assured supporters  that his life is out of danger, thanks to medics who quickly responded to his situation.

Attan wrote thus on social media;

“I was poisoned yesterday. You may have realised I left the rally before it ended. I was given the local antipoison and my night was tough – vomiting and diarrhoea.

By 3:30am, I was too weak and had to be moved to a clinic where I was managed and after one and a half hour I was moved out of Soroti to a private facility for further management to avoid our enemies to access me.

I give glory to God, that I am alive and getting stronger. Thank you so much, most especially those on the ground doing everything possible to protect our victory that shall be declared tomorrow after 4pm.

Our enemies have gotten desperate and restless, however they have no choice but to accept the will of the people and God.

I am returning to the constituency today after further checkups, examinations and treatment.

I will be fighting to the end! With God on our side🙏🙏

Isaiah 45:2.”

Attan, who first received blessings from Bishop Joseph Eciru of Soroti Catholic Diocese at St Patrick Madera, asked the people to be aware of injustice during elections.

He is contesting for the position together with Herbert Ariko Okworo, a member   of the ruling National Resistance Movement.
