The  South Korean Defence Attache to Uganda Col. Lee Jeongsu has applauded the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) and other sister security agencies for ensuring that peace and stability prevail in Uganda, saying it creates conducive environment  for investment.

Col. Jeongsu made the remarks on Wednesday during his courtesy visit to the UPDF spokesperson Brig. Gen. Flavia Byekwaso.

Shortly after their meeting, Brig. Gen. Byekwaso, who also hailed  Col. Jeongsu for his courtesy call, tweeted;

“The South Korean Defence Attache’ to Uganda Col Lee Jeongsu today paid a courtesy call to the Defence Spokesperson at MoD HQ Mbuya.”

She added that; “He hailed the peace and stability prevailing in  the country and the good relations between the two Countries.”

It should be noted that On March 26, 1963, the Republic of Korea and Uganda agreed to begin bilateral relations. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea was commissioned in that very year, but closed its doors in 1994.

It reopened on May, 2011, and quickly became a fully-fledged embassy on December 30, 2011.

Recently, the areas of human resource exchange and economic growth have been receiving a lot of attention.

The two countries cooperate especially developmental areas and Uganda is one of the ODA (official donor assistance) nations of Korea.

In October 2012, both countries concluded a grant-aid agreement that will encourage even greater bilateral cooperation.
