The Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, has Thursday October 15th, 2020, been nominated by the Electoral Commission in Kamuli as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for Kamuli Woman Member of Parliament (MP) in the forthcoming 2021 general elections.
After nomination, Kadaga held a somewhat small celebration party at a hotel in Kamuli.
While there, she revealed some of the plans she has for the people of Kamuli district that she believes will improve their overall standards of living.
“I have been nominated as a candidate for the Kamuli Woman MP seat. As MP, I will struggle for the tarmacking of three key roads, which snake through other districts, plus boosting the growing of avocado as a cash crop,” Kadaga said.
The Speaker said she is determined to fight poverty for her constituents through the promotion of growth of cash crops especially avocado and sugarcanes.
“It (avocado) fetches Shs28 million per annum. I will also enhance the search for sugarcane markets,” Kadaga added.
It should be noted that Kadaga put off stiff competition from State Minister for Lands Persis Namuganza during the NRM primary elections in September to become the NRM flag bearer for Kamuli Woman MP. l
Kadaga will face it off with Salam Musumba, who is contesting for the same position on Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) ticket.
