Strange Death At Nakawa Market Sparks Off COVID-19 Fear Among Traders

There is untold tension among traders at Nakawa Market, in Nakawa Division, after  one of their  own died on Tuesday night under unclear conditions, which has sparked off fears of COVID-19 at the market.

The deceased Trader identified as Hadija Nakyanzi,  a resident of Salaama Road who was operating at Lockup Shop No. 118, was found lying dead by fellow traders  who quickly informed detectives at Jinja Road Police, who dispatched a team of investigators to the scene.

Although it was not yet clear what had caused Nakyanzi’s death, many of her fellow traders were left gripped with shock, fearing that could have died of COVID-19, because she had not complained of any illness the previous day.

Since the deceased had died under mysterious conditions, the police notified the Ministry of Health which dispatched  a team of COVID-19 experts to retrieve the corpse from the scene so that they could take it to the Mulago based KCCA City mortuary for postmortem as investigations into the matter continue.

By press time however neither the police nor the authorities at Nakawa market had issued an official statement about this unfortunate event, although we shall bring you details as and when they emerge.
