Tension Over Insecurity Mounts As Two Police Officers Are Murdered, Guns Stolen

The Uganda police and sister security agencies are hunting for unknown assailants who murdered two police officers in Kiboga District on Thursday, before fleeing with their guns.

The shocking news was revealed by ASP Rachael Kawala, the Wamala Region Police Spokesperson, who said a hunt for the killers has already kicked off.

“The territorial police in Kiboga has registered a serious incident of a double murder of two police officers and the Aggravated robbery of their guns, which occurred on the 16.12.2021, at around 7.30pm, at Nakasozi police post, in Kiboga District, ASP Kawala said in a statement.

She added that ” The officers have been identified as; Cpl Nsubuga Francis and SPC Ddimba Paul. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families, friends and colleagues.”

According to Kawala, the facts indicate that the officers were attacked while seated at the police post, by a gang of 4 armed men, dressed in civilian attire.

She noted that; “This is the second such kind of attack within a duration of nine days, targeting police officers and their guns. We have dispatched our teams from the Flying squad unit, to team up with the territorial police and ensure the suspects are identified and brought to justice.”

Kawala also revealed that the motive of the suspects is not yet determined, but the police shall release more details as soon as they are availed.
