Three people have been arrested by the Police in Katakwi district over allegations that they murdered a businessman and his wife before they tortured their two daughters on Monday September 20th, 2021.
It is alleged that the suspects and others still at large, raided the home of Emmanuel Omachar, a businessman, in Aleles village, Akisim parish, Angodingodi, sub-county on Monday at, in Katakwi District, where murdered him together with his wife Achode Teddy, before they severely tortured their two daughter.
The suspects who are in custody include; Ijoot John Robert, Olem Simon and Asege Agnes, all from the same village.
ASP Oscar Gregory Ageca, the police Public Relations Officer (PRO) for East Kyoga, revealed that the scene of crime was visited by the Regional team from East Kyoga and Katakwi CPS which included homicide detectives, who rushed the two injured daughters to Katakwi General hospital for further medical attention.
Ageca revealed that the police also conveyed the bodies of the two deceased persons to the hospital for postmortem analysis as investigations into this gruesome murder continue.
“The team arrested the three suspects on preliminary information linking them to the murder, and transferred them to Katakwi CPS, for further interrogation, to help establish the circumstances and motivation behind the murder,” Ageca said.
He added that exhibits of material value were recovered at the scene and it is these that the police are using as leads in their investigations.
He also noted that; “The police assures the public that there is no place for such acts of violence and impunity, and will fast track the investigation to ensure the suspects are thoroughly processed and arraigned before the courts of law.”
