In a bid to beat the effects of COVID-19 on the education system, city businessman Hamis Kiggundu has given millions of learners in Uganda an opportunity to study online by starting up a digital learning platform called Hamz Campus.
It should be noted that schools were closed down by government as one of the measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and they are set to reopen in January next year, something that has left many learners stranded, especially those who have no access to digital learning.
But this problem has been solved by Hamz Campus, a new learning platform running on the website, www.hamzcampus.com.
It should be noted that since the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus, physical learning has stalled, which prompted tycoon Ham to invest money into a team of Information and Technology (IT) experts to build an online portal to ensure that no time is lost in educating Ugandans.
Instead of sitting at home and waiting until schools are reopened, learners can now access over 5,000 practical courses and knowledge through the website.
Some of the courses offered at Hamz Campus include; marketing and sales, career development courses, administrative skills, human resource courses, personal development courses, to mention but a few.
Speaking about this innovation, Ham said that; “My intention is to equip the young people with practical soft skills, setting the pace of learning they deem best for themselves as well as choosing the course they personally want to study.”
He added that; “Through the platform, individuals can take ownership and responsibility of their education, without any time constraints.”
According to Ham, the teaching model will be based on real everyday affairs.
“Education based on reason and reality is the key to global prosperity,” Ham emphasised.
He revealed that Hamz Campus is accessible to everyone with access to the internet across the world and has tutors who are handpicked from across the world and will be available 24/7, according to the team behind the development of the platform.
Hamz Campus also operates a number of subsidiaries through different web and mobile based platforms ranging from; Education, Communication, Online Shopping, Online Payment, Video hosting and Entertainment sectors.
The Hamz Campus operated platforms include: Hamz Campus, for online learning, Hamz Wave, a short video streaming app with fun and inspirational videos, Hamz Line for social media connection, Hamz Tube for free unlimited video and movie hosting.
Others are; Hamz Chart, a mobile based texting and calling app, Hamz Club, a motivational and personal development platform where you can get one on one with tycoon Ham himself, Hamz E Mall, for online shopping, Ham Pay for online payments and secure money transfer among others.
They are primarily accessible for download from his own android app store, Hamz App Store and also on other android and iOS stores.
