2021 looks like it is going to be a good year for Uganda’s national air carrier, Uganda Airlines. From acquiring more aircraft for its fleet to getting a landing spot at UK’s busiest airport the Heathrow International Airport in London, the airline has now added an international award to its wins.
Uganda Airlines has been announced by Ch-aviation as the winner of the world’s youngest aircraft fleet award 2021. Ch-aviation is a company that collects and publishes information about the airline business, based in Chur, Switzerland.
“We are happy to announce that Uganda Airlines is the Winner of the ch-aviation World’s Youngest Aircraft Fleet Award 2021, with an average aircraft age of 1.15 years,” Che-aviation said on its website.
Uganda s (Africa) beat other young airlines SalamAir, airBaltic, Frontier Airlines, Fiji Link, and SKY Airline which won the respective awards on the continents of Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania, and South America respectively.
“Hooray! We are top of the World! Great honour for Uganda Airlines to be recognized as the winner of the ch-aviation World’s Youngest Aircraft Fleet Award 2021,” Uganda Airlines posted on Twitter.
The ch-aviation Youngest Aircraft Fleet Award recognises airlines from across the globe that keep a young, modern, and efficient fleet. Operators dedicated to keeping their aircraft fleet young and using new generations of aircraft contribute significantly to the decrease of C02 within the aviation industry and help achieve better fuel efficiency.
To acknowledge their accomplishments, ch-aviation has decided to give them the recognition they deserve. It is important to note that this award is based entirely on non-manipulable aircraft data. There is no jury or any other subjective parameter involved.
Uganda Airlines runs a fleet of six aircraft that include two Airbus A330-800 Neo and four Bombardier CRJ900ER planes.
