Celebrated Ugandan musician, poet and songwriter Atyang Laura, who is famed for her charming music, is slated to thrill revellers at this year’s Afro Jazz On The Nile Concert.
Atyang Laura will be officially unveiled as an artist signed under Maestro Studios during the concert that is to happen on 12th November at the Iconic Jinja Sailing Club in Jinja City.
She talented diva will perform live some of her popular jams like; ‘Alakara’, ‘Amina Eyong Ijo’, ‘The Curse Is Broken’, among others.
This will be Atyang’s maiden appearance and she will dressed by African Couture designer Mushonna.
With this concert, Atyang is set to lay her credentials on Uganda’s music scene.
After releasing her cameo 7 track album Alakara, with the lead single ‘Control’ getting massive airplay, Atyang has been hard at work to release her latest works to the world.
During the presser, Atyan greeted the audience with her trademark Itesot greeting “Biabo”, before promising a great show not only for the people from Jinja, but from also Teso and the entire Eastern Uganda.
“I’m excited about this concert, because I get to show my diversity as part of the D#Maestroz Band and as a solo artist to such an incredible audience and a rich line-up of acts I have closely worked with over the years,” Atyang said.
She added that; “So, this for me, is a coming of age, maturity and a chance to showcase my roots of afro-fusion”.
An entrepreneur, rights activist and musician, Atyang is graduate of Cavendish University Uganda with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a certificate in Radio and TV presentation from Crane Media Institute Uganda.
Besides Atyang however, Maestro Studios’ flagship band D#Maestroz, who will perform live alongside Queen Sheebah and Levixone at their forthcoming shows, will also showcase their musical diversity of jazz and soul music at the concert.
The D#Maestroz band are slowly and surely, setting themselves up as the must-go-to band for authentic and live sound productions.
Despite being new in the industry, the Band has over claimed its place on the live music scene due to the diversity of the members in the band, among them the Congolese duo of Musa (lead vocals) and Splash Ela on the acoustic guitar, Gentle Giant Denno on the bass, Augustine Mukisa on the drums, and songstress Treezy Patricia, plus the Coca Cola Rated Next Season 1 winner Daniel Kaweesi.
It is by no surprise that the ensemble of stars lined up for the Afro Jazz on the Nile concert is sumptuous and promises a rich return reward for contemporary jazz lovers from a line-up of artists like Azawi, Irene Ntale, Naava Grey, King Saha, Kenneth Mugabi and lady-of-the-moment Atyang Laura.
Speaking at the grand press party held on 21stOctober at X-hub in Najjera, Donald Wasake of Maestro Studios, said he was happy with the progress of the band and its rich ensemble of members.
Wasake saluted the other sponsors of the show among them; Amplify Ab Impex Ltd, the Fireworks 7000, Baba TV, ATS Events and others, for bringing to life something unique like Afro Jazz on the Nile concert.
