The Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) high command has relieved Lt. Col. Deo Akiiki of his duties as deputy army spokesperson, following his four years of service in that position.
We have established that Lt. Lt Col Ronald Kakurungu, who has served in various positions as army publicist, including speaking for the UPDF second Division, has since replaced Akiiki as the new deputy army spokesperson.
Akiiki, as you read this, is preparing his luggage and grab such that he can be in time to attend a senior command course at the Kimaka based Senior Command and Staff College.
While bidding his colleagues and fellow practitioners in the media arena, Akiiki tweeted thus on Sunday; “thank the UPDF Leadership for nominating me to go and further my studies and military career at the Senior Command and Staff College. Karibu Ndugu Lt Col Ronald Kakurungu to take charge of the office of the Deputy spokesperson of the ministry and UPDF. Alluta Continua.”
