UPDF Soldier Drowns In L. Albert Enroute To Mission In DR Congo

The  Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) are mourning the untimely demise of one of their own, a soldier, who drowned in Lake Albert on his way to the Democratic Republic of Congo a few days ago.

According to family sources, the soldier, identified as Private Canary Monday Bashasha, drowned following a boat accident on the lake that occurred as they sailed towards DR Congo waters.

One of his relatives identified as Mugisha Ben wrote on social media  thus about the deceased: “My nephew private canary Monday Bashasha of updf who drowned in lake Albert enroute to Congo will be buried today @ his ancestoral home In shuuku sheema after more than four days of search for the body ..we shall miss you canary dying @ a tender age of 22yrs..may the almighty comfort the family of mr Bashasha Ruviki..”


It should however be noted that the UPDF has not yet issued an official statement about what exactly caused Bashasha’s death or the cause of the boat accident and what exact mission he had been deployed for.
