A Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) who shot three people dead and injured three others following a love wrangle in late December 2020 has Monday pleaded guilty of triple murder.
Private Bobson Amutuhaire, UPDF No. AX 017942 attached to the 27th Battalion, appeared before the field court martial in Ryeru sub-county, Rubirizi District, for shooting six people out of which three died last week on December 27, 2020 and three are still nursing gunshot wounds.
According to the police, on the fateful day, Amutuhaire stormed a village trading centre wielding his AK-47 rifle and opened fire at unarmed civilians following a disagreement with his lover.
Those that were gunned down include; Scovia Timbakizire, 42, resident of Muwanda B cell, a one Conrad, 22, from Nkondo B cell and Olivia Ninsiima sister of the late Conrad all residents of Ryeru Sub County.
The four others who sustained injuries are admitted at Kampala International University Teaching Hospital where they are undergoing medical attention.
The case was registered at Rubirizi police station as CRB 629/2020 and after he pleaded guilty, Amutuhaire now awaits the second sitting of the court martial when his judgement will be pronounced.
