Police at CID headquarters has arrested Prof. Wasswa Tomas Davis, the Managing Director Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation (UPPC), for alleged embezzlement of Shs3bn of the corporation’s money.
“Syndicate noticed and other culprits to be pursued,” said CID Spokesperson Charles Twiine on Tuesday.
The arrest follows his interdiction by the Minister for Presidency, Milly Babirye Babalanda.
Babalanda said she interdicted Wasswa and the top leadership at the UPPC based in Entebbe over alleged corruption.
“I have today officially interdicted the managing director, board, company secretary and internal auditor of UPPC to pave way for investigations into allegations of corruption and other irregularities,” Babalanda revealed.
Wasswa will in the meantime be replaced by James Tweheyo, a presidential advisor and former Uganda National Teachers Union secretary-general.
“James Tweheyo, a presidential advisor and former Uganda National Teachers Union secretary-general, will for now be the caretaker.,” Babalanda tweeted.
