US Sanctions Start To Bite As Musicians Are Denied American Visas

By Ivan Mwine

The sanctions that were some time back issued by the government of the United States of America against top Ugandans have started biting.

We have learnt that although the U.S sanctions were initially issued against politicians, military officers and top government officials, even musicians have since started suffering the same brunt.

Word coming in from our Moles is that so far several musicians who were chasing after American visas such that they can perform at gigs in the US are reeling in untold disappointment after they were denied visas.

Vinka is one of the Ugandan musicians who have reportedly been denied a U.S Visa

Although the list of musicians who have been denied US visas so far is long, the musicians who top it include Winnie Nakanwagi aka Winnie Nwagi, Veronica Lugya aka Vinka, Azawi, Chosen Becky, Mathias Walukagga, among others.

Meanwhile, so far Ziza Bafana has been confirmed as the only artiste who will be performing at this year’s UNAA convention.

Chosen Becky was also denied a U.S Visa

Moles intimate that the musicians above had been lined up to perform this year’s Ugandan North American Association (UNAA) convention, although now  that they have been denied visas their chances of performing at the event hang in balance.

This year’s UNAA convention, which is arguably the biggest social events for Ugandans in North America, will be held in San Francisco between September 2nd and 5th.
