The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Next Media Group, the proprietors of NBS TV and other media houses, has lashed out at all those currently attacking the station’s staff, including former presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, by referring to them as ‘dogs’, that NSB TV management or its staff shall not throw stones at.
Kariisa, who was calling upon his foot soldiers led by news anchor Samson Kasumba, to stop replying to the attacks aimed at NBS TV and its staff following allegations by Bobi Wine that the station colluded with the mafia to rig the election, tweeted thus Tuesday night;
“Mukulu @SamsonKasumba cool down please. Winston Churchill famously said: “You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks.” Let’s move on, We are #NBSAlways.”
Kasumba had earlier on tweeted; “So the problem is that he did not win? If he had won there would be no problem? Well the referee is bad when you lose the game. The moment he gives you a penalty you did not deserve then he was fair and a good referee? Take your kids to schools where logic is taught. Wait 5 years.”
The saga started when National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, accused NBS TV of allegedly colluding with some mafias in government to manipulate the January 14 presidential election by portraying the National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as the winner, even before the Electoral Commission announced the winner.
Although NBS TV staff and management have since denied the allegations, claiming that they relayed results that they were receiving from credible sources, many Ugandans, especially the NUP supporters, have continuously lambasted the TV station for being in bed with the mafia and several of them are calling for a national boycott of the NBS TV.
